There’s great info in there and I assume you’re referencing the Fusion towing a boat. I would LOVE to have that article re-evaluated with the added effort of pulling something out of water. I guessed from the beginning at slow speeds on a slow trip that Fusion would be fine even though the boat is obviously over rating (rating is about 2000 if he has the V6) but up a boat ramp with the added resistance of water to pull out of seems to be more than that car should be doing.

it terms of power...it doesn’t take much to pull a lot.
But if you want to be able to not die at any kind of speed, its a different matter.

Exactly. Came up a couple times about Euro towing vs NA towing so I figured it was time to dig into the HammerheadFistpunch file...

Yep I wasn’t concerned about being able to move it, except for trying to get it out of the water, I think he’s going to have a hard time with that.
Obviously his transmission wasn’t built with towing in mind either though.

Pulling it isn’t that hard. Stopping it is something else entirely. That Tundra is fucked the moment it tries to stop that thing at any speed over a light jog.

Did you ever see a show called Worlds Toughest Fixes ? amazing show about a professional rigger who goes around helping people do huge jobs. It’s like Dirty Work with Mike Rowe except he’s a pro that actually knows what he’s doing. Anyway, there is a lot of really good practical explanations of mass and inertia in there and it puts it all into perspective - i.e. 500 tons moving slowing is just as dangerous as 1 ton moving quickly. Cool show

FYI - Working on a condensed version of this that includes the J2807 towing standards. Hoping to get to talk to some truck engineers soon on the matter for extra legit points.

Looking forward to that.
